Second Page!

Hello,

I have completed the second page of my arrangement of Erik Satie’s Gymnopedie No. 1 for Chapman Stick. This is the main body of the piece. What I have left are the 1st and 2nd endings. I’m getting closer on this learning experience. I have learned a huge amount about the Stick, music engraving, and the art and craft of transcription. Let me know what you think!

Here’s the download link

Here’s my arrangements page.

I’m working on a recording which I’ll also post when I have a good one.

Thanks,

-Eric

Hi,
I found some old forum entries on your lilyfn project over at the stickist site and was wondering where in the process you are. I assume it’s advanced a bit seeing the Gymnopedie score in stafftab here. I looked up scheme but will have to upgrade my macOS to run the current version. In any case, I’d be interested in helping a little bit if the project still has work to do (although I’ll claim the right to a HUGE learning curve). If it is mostly completed, is the source for the addon available?

Thanks, and I wish I had half your energy.

Hi, Doug.

We have a Basecamp project for this and if you would like, I would be happy to add you to the project. I’m the only one currently active on the project, and due to a death in the family, I haven’t done much for a month. I’m starting to get back into it since I have started on my iPad app for LilyPond.

Here’s the github project link: http://github.com/ejknapp/LilyFN

Let me know about being added to the Basecamp project.

Hi Eric,

I’d love to be part of your Basecamp project and am actually a newly minted iphone developer as well. I signed up for the iphone (and ipad) developer program for some other, non-musical, applications I’m trying to put together, but wouldn’t mind helping on that end as well. It’d jumpstart me on my own applications. Now for sure, I’ll have to upgrade my Mac (I have a fully upgraded Mac but use it to drive our TV. With burnin issues on the display, etc. my wife would kill me if I started developing using that. Long story). Feel free to contact me on the provided email and thanks.

PS. I own a 12 String Grand which I can’t really play but it looks nice. I attended a workshop in SoCal back 5 or 6 years. The only definitive thing I took away from it was the headshaking and sad looks Greg used whenever looking my way :) . I actually thought my Stick was busted until Greg tried it out. His playing is downright incredible. In any case, it was a great experience and I met a lot of nice people. BTW, My redeeming virtue was having an angel of a wife that took over the CD table while Greg/Tom G/Emmett played during the evening concert. I’d like to think that my desecration of the Stick was forgiven because of her.
